Pure American Muscle: The 20 Most Powerful Cars in History

1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2

The Pontiac 2+2 was a muscle car produced in the United States between 1964 and 1967. It was marketed as the bigger sibling of the popular Pontiac GTO and featured special exterior badging. In 1965, the Catalina name was dropped in favor of the 2+2 moniker.

The car was equipped with a powerful 6.9-liter engine, heavy-duty front springs, and dual exhaust, making it a popular choice among muscle car lovers. Although production ended in 1967, the 2+2 model made a comeback in 1986 with an aerodynamic coupe design. Only 1,225 of these later models were released, making them a rare find for collectors.
