50 Iconic Dresses Throughout The Decades

7. Halle Berry’s Elie Saab Burgundy Dress (2002)

Making history as the first African American woman to win the award for Best Actress for her role in “Monster’s Ball,” Halle Berry wore a ravishing burgundy dress to the 74th academy awards in 2002. The dress was designed by Elie Saab and was made of luxurious satin, featuring a fitted mesh bodice that had pink and ivory hand-embroidered flowers encrusted with hand-sewn beads.

The gloriously beautiful dress had a full skirt with a sweeping train of pure burgundy silk, making it one of the most recognizable outfits of all time and establishing Berry as a fashion icon.
